Seddho Alur Torkari / Boiled Potato Curry
Seddho Aloor Torkari ( সেদ্ধ আলুর তরকারি ) or Bolied Potato Curry is a heirloom recipe of my metarnal house . My maternal grandmother used to cook it . Later I saw my mom to cook it specially when she used to fast . I do not know wheather you are aware of this recipe or not . But i have not yet seen this recipe being cooked elsewhere except my family . It is very easy to make potato recipe perfect for your fasting day . The gravy of this curry is little bit watery . This hot watery gravy is perfect for cold and cough , it gives relief when you have a bad sore throat . It tastes good with luchi or poori .

Durga Puja is knocking at the door . A few days left in hand . It is a big festival for all the Bengalis of the world , which indicates the victory of good power against the evil . It lasts four days . The Bengali people wait for these four days of the Puja through out the year . The madness of the cities of West Bengal is a bit more crazy with Puja . Many people came from abroad and other states of India to see Durga Puja of West Bengal , specially it’s capital Kolkata . Many people eat vegetarian dishes on some days during Durga puja .
Serve This Curry With Luchi Or Poori
All pujawas, including Durgapuja, are offered luchi as a prasad . Wherever there is restriction on eating rice in most of the Hindu religious rituals , Bengali Hindus eat luchi instead of rice . Luchi, which we call Puri in most parts of India , Luchi is a deep-fried flatbread made of refined flour or maida . We Bengalis love to eat luchi with aloor dum or Bengali style dum aloo , cholar dal or chana dal , begun bhja or brinjal fry . You can make this boiled potato curry with your luchi or poori next time . Then I can assure you this delicious couple will relish your taste buds . To conclude , I can say this combination of luchi or poori and this boiled potato curry is perfect to everyone and it is very enjoyable for breakfast, noon or dinner or snack at any time of day .

How to make Seddho Alur Torkari or Boiled Potato CurryPrint This
- Potatoes – 2
- Rock Salt or Sendha Namak or Sandhok Lobon – according to your taste
- Green chilies – 2
- Ghee – 1 tablespoon
Note:- If you are not making this curry for fast then you can use normal salt .
- Cut potatoes into small cube sized pieces .
- Add two big cups water ( approximately 500 ml ) in a gas proof bowl .
- Add green chilies broken into two pieces .
- Add salt .
- Add ghee .
- Place the bowl on gas , bring the water to boil .
- When the water will be started boiling reduce the flame to medium .
- Cook until the potatoes are done . Make sure there is enough water in the curry .
